Climbing Wall

A great time was had by all on 19th & 20th April, when justClimb UK of Pickering provided us with 2 days of extremely
challenging fun.  Even though the weather was not kind to us, children from Y2-6 enjoyed the thrill of climbing the 27ft
wall.

This is what  the justClimb staff thought of our children:
“We found the children to be mutually supporting, good natured, polite and completely engaged over both days”.

Comments were also made that the children were a fantastic reflection of the school and the local area.

Playground Development

As some of you will have noticed we are beginning to enhance the playground spaces. Wilmott Dixon and Yorkshire Coast Homes are assisting in this venture, donating time and contributing to costs. This is a long term venture and we apologise for any inconvenience caused while we close areas during the construction work.  However, I am sure you will agree that it will greatly improve the children’s enjoyment at playtime.

East Barnby

During week commencing 23rd April, 24 of our Y4 children enjoyed a week at East Barnby. Activities included canoeing, gorge walking, rock climbing, skiing, den building – to name just a few! A big thank you to Miss Jordan, Mrs Weatherill and Miss Richardson for giving up a week to take the children. Mr Rogers and Mr Johnson could only manage half a week each!

SATS Week

Please remember Y6 SATs week begins on Monday 14th May. Please ensure the children have early nights, a good breakfast and are at school on time.

Good luck Y6!!

Jubilee Day

On 31st May we will be celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of The Queen and our school!

A special picnic lunch has been arranged, where hopefully we will be re-creating a Street Party on the playground.
The children are invited to dress in red, white & blue for the occasion. During the afternoon the school will be open to local residents to celebrate the completion of the building work.

Further details to follow.

Bug Busting
We have arranged a session with the School Nurse at 9.00 a.m. on Wednesday 9th May to discuss the subject of Headlice. There will be details of how to treat and how to try and avoid headlice.

All parents are welcome to attend.

Sainsbury/Tesco Vouchers

If you have any of these vouchers at home could you please ensure that they come into school as soon as possible so that we can send them off for equipment for school.

Many thanks.

May Day

Just to remind you that Monday 7th May is a Bank Holiday and school will be closed.

School will re-open at normal time on Tuesday 8th May.

Half Term Holiday

School will close for one week at 3.15 p.m. on Friday 1st June 2012.

Monday 11th June is a Staff Training Day so pupils will return to school at normal time on Tuesday 12th June 2012.

Cold Café

The response to the Cold Café initiative has been very encouraging.  It appears that the children welcome the extra choices. We will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that we are providing what children and parents want.

Thank you for your support.
