Library Visit –Class 8

Class 8 visited the library on Thursday 31st January, as part of their reading for pleasure work. The library assistant Angela chatted to them about the different books available in the library. The class were keen to look at books relating to their work on this terms topic on ‘The Vikings’ and look for books around the recent writing they have been doing around dragons.

Later, they were given a talk around Captain Cook by Maria Billington, who shared with us artefacts from some of the islands he visited. They were taught a Hawaiian dance and used musical instruments to accompany the music.

After lunch they settled down to watch a lunch time recital with a pianist and opera singer. Little did they realise the opera singer was their teacher Mrs Elgun. They ended the concert as part of the encore sharing with the audience the new dance they had learned.

Despite the cold temperatures they all walked back to school. Members of the audience and Maria all complimented the class on their lovely manners and behaviour throughout the visit.
