Menus

New menus are published each term.  Children can choose either the hot meal of the day, a jacket potato with filling, or sandwiches served with a variety of fresh salad. Freshly baked bread is also available each day.

Payment Information

Payment for school meals is made on the Arbor parent portal.

When your child joins Barrowcliff School you will be provided with a login to the Arbor parent portal where you can make payments for school meals.

We must receive payment for school meals in advance. This can be paid daily, weekly, monthly, half-termly or termly.  From September 2026, meals are charged at £2.40 per day, or £12.00 per week.  Nursery children are welcome to stay for a school lunch, the current price of a nursery meal is £1.80 per day.   Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 receive a government-funded school meal free of charge.

Free School Meals

If you claim certain benefits your child may be eligible for free school meals and pupil premium funding.  More information on eligibility and how to apply can be found here or by visiting the North Yorkshire Council free school meal webpage here.  Applications are processed by North Yorkshire Council, not the school.

Packed Lunches
If your child would prefer to bring a packed lunch, please ensure your child’s food is packed into a named bag and that your child has a drink. Sweets, chocolate bars and fizzy drinks are not permitted as part of a packed lunch. Any food your child does not eat is returned home in his/her lunch box.

Lunchtime Supervision
At lunchtime our team of midday assistants supervise the children while eating and during their lunchtime play.
