  • East Barnby Day 3 & 4

    Thu 23 Feb 2023

    Day 3:

Following another good night's sleep, we set off on an adventure walk through Mulgrave Woods.  Lunch at the castle was followed by shelter building and spotting different aspects of nature and wildlife in the woods.  As the weather closed in and the children began to get a bit chilly, we headed back to base to light a fire and toast marshmallows. A tea of chicken pie or gammon and potatoes was followed by Indoor-Olympics, tuck shop and bed!

    Day 4:

We woke to a beautiful day, had a good breakfast and set off on the drive to climb Roseberry Topping. The children did a brilliant job, clambering up the slopes and the view, not to mention the pictures from the top, were absolutely stunning.  Definitely worth the effort!  A drive to the centre to have lunch was followed by an afternoon on the seashore at Runswick Bay, finding fossils and creating art with items on the shore.  Time was then spent packing bags ahead of our last day tomorrow and a tea of pizza or curry was followed by souvenir buying from the shop and a chill out session watching Shrek!  Another fantastic day!

  • East Barnby Day 1 & Day 2

    Wed 22 Feb 2023

    East Barnby

    Day 1

Following a good journey up to East Barnby, everyone settled into their dormitories, made their beds and following lunch, headed out to the River Esk at Goathland for a beck scramble.  What fantastic fun it was, regardless of how wet everyone got!!!

Following a warm shower and tea, the evening activities involved playing games, a visit to the tuck shop and alien finding!  Everyone settled quickly and lights out went fairly well.

    Day 2

Following a good sleep, and breakfast of cereal, sausages, scrambled egg and toast, the groups headed out to the River Esk again, but this time at Ruswarp to canoe to the harbour at Whitby.  After securing the boats and playing some games, they set off on their journey.  Lunch was had on a little island just beneath the bridge at Ruswarp before ending up in Whitby.

An enjoyable meal of lasagne or fish and chips followed and an evening activity of sledging on the dry ski slope, games and tuck shop rounded off another brilliant day.  Everyone was asleep well before 10pm to recharge the batteries ahead of Wednesday’s Adventure Walk through Mulgrave Woods.
