We encourage all children to eat a healthy, well-balanced meal. Delicious school meals are available each day to all children at school.
New menus are published each term to enable you to choose meals with your children. Each day the children can choose whether they would like the hot meal option or our Cold Café option; this offers a choice of sandwiches, jacket potatoes, a variety of fillings and salad. A vegetarian hot meal is also available each day. Parents are invited to sample school meals at any time, please contact the school office for further information.
We are moving towards becoming a ‘cashless’ school. Meals should be paid for via the ParentPay online payment facility. This can be accessed on a computer/laptop or mobile phone or, if you don't have internet access, by Paypoint card. Payment is made directly from your debit/credit card. School will provide parents with a password and instructions as to how to set up an account on ParentPay. Further information on ParentPay and how to get started is available here.
We must receive payment for school meals in advance. This can be paid daily, weekly, monthly, half-termly or termly. The current price is £2.10 per day, or £10.50 per week. Nursery children are welcome to stay for a school lunch, the current price of a nursery meal is £1.60 per day.
Free School Meals
Your child may be eligible for free school meals. For more information on eligibility and to apply, please visit the NYCC free school meal webpage here. Alternatively please call in to the school office for an application form.
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a Universal Free School Meal so no payment is required from children in these year groups.
If your child would prefer to bring a packed lunch, please ensure your child’s food is packed into a named bag and that your child has a drink. Glass bottles and fizzy drinks are not allowed.
We promote healthy eating in school so please keep sweets and chocolates bars as treats for home, they must not be part of a packed lunch. Any food your child does not eat is returned home in his/her lunch box. Please see the teacher if your child does not eat enough at lunchtime.
At lunchtime Mrs Snow, Mrs Ackroyd and their team of midday assistants supervise the children.
Special Dietary Requirements
These can usually be catered for, please contact the school office for further details.
