Medicine in School

Any child may at some time have health care needs requiring the administration of medication.  Whilst it is preferable for medication to be taken at home, it is recognised that for some children this is not appropriate.

If your child requires medication in school, please:

a) Mark the medication clearly with your child’s name;

b) Deliver it to the school office (please do not ask your child to do this).

c) Complete and sign the form below, or ask for a copy at the school office.  We cannot administer any medication without your written consent.

Parent/carers should assist by asking the prescribing medical practitioner if the administration can, whenever possible, occur outside the time where the child is in school.

Medication must NOT be given to your child to bring to school, whether prescribed or not.

Prescribed medication should only be taken in school when it is essential and where not to do so would be detrimental to a child’s health.
